It Hits the Fan

The recent phone call scandal for Kelvin Sampson at Indiana has now caused Hoosiers assistant Rob Senderoff to resign. However, the real story may be the strong rumor circulating that Indiana's top 2008 recruit, Devin Ebanks, will be forced to withdraw his commitment to Indiana. Ranked among the top ten players in the 2008 class, Ebanks also considered Rutgers and Miami (FL) before verballing to Indiana. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that UConn could make a run here at Ebanks, as this type of recruitment would be right in Jim Calhoun's wheelhouse.

In other recruiting news, top 100 post player Ralph Sampson III (son of former Virginia star Ralph Sampson) committed to Minnesota. The younger Sampson joins rising big man Colton Iverson in giving Tubby Smith and the Gophers a strong front line to build around.

Herb Sendek continues the process of rebuilding Arizona State, receiving a verbal commitment from touted 2009 guard Jared Cunningham. The California combo guard had interest from most of the Pac 10, San Diego State and Gonzaga before making the early commitment to the Sun Devils. Cunningham currently ranks as Scout's eighth best 2009 point guard in what looks to be a strong guard class.

Athletic forward Quintrell Thomas has committed to Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks. A top 100 prospect according to Scout, Thomas will give the Jayhawks a hard working power forward who plays strong in the post and competes against bigger opponents.
